The Aim of the Association is three-fold:

Camaraderie

To promote camaraderie between former members of 32 Battalion.

To establish a platform for social interaction between former members of 32 Battalion.

Tradition

To sustain and encourage the continuation of the traditions of 32 Battalion.

To promote the public image of 32 Battalion.

Fundraising

To raise and administrate funds to the benefit of the aims of the association.

Initially starting up on the initiative of Piet Nortje (Former RSM) as an email network, the number of ex-members seeking to reunite with "The Band of Brothers" grew so rapidly the inevitable happened and so with the need to formalise matters the 32Bn Veterans Association initially founded on 15 September 2001 became officially active on 06 November 2004 as a non-profitable organisation, underpinning the principles of maintaining the Camaraderie and Traditions of our Elite Unit which had formerly been betrayed and disbanded.

Although not an initial goal of the VA, it was soon apparent that the ex-32 Battalion Portuguese Community in Pomfret is being exploited and their livelihood threatened and so the VA members set out to support our "Brothers" by procuring resources to assist and support our destitute Community.

Besides the official VA programme and the principal email network bridging the geographical gap, the members continue to meet regularly on an informal basis and some partake in regular excursions to visit and coordinate matters with the Community in Pomfret.

Any person who has served in 32 Battalion for a minimum continuous service period of three (3) months is eligible to join the Association.
